Capital City Big Band

Thursday, 25 April 2019 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

For ANZAC Day, Blues at the Crossroads is delighted to host the Capital City Big Band.  CCBB for short (formally know as the Aspire Big Band) specialises in the Swing music of the 1930s and 40s. However, since 2011 they have also developed a Latin, funk and modern big band repertoire.

Some of these more modern big band numbers are for having fun, such as The Donut King and The James Bond theme, and others are more about serious performance, such as the music of the US Army Band and New Zealand composer Vaughn Roberts. However, CCBB is most recognised for its hot Mambo grooves and its tributes to Swing greats: Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Cole Porter and Nat King Cole.
