Hard Core Troubadours

Thursday, 3 August 2017 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Rob Joass and the Hard Core Troubadours play country/rock with a healthy dose of blues thrown into the mix. Inspired by the likes of Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Paul Kelly, and Jason Isbell, this band features some of Wellington’s best known musicians, including Alan Norman on keys, Chris Armour on lead guitar, Murray Costello on bass, and Rob’s long time collaborator and partner in crime Hamish Graham on drums and backing vocals. They will be playing songs old, new, borrowed and blue.

Rob Joass is well known to many music fans throughout New Zealand through his work with Hobnail, The Shot Band, The Hard Core Troubadours and Too Many Chiefs. He writes compulsively, tours incessantly, teaches guitar, produces albums, and can be found behind a mixing desk live and in the studio when time allows. His songs have been covered by artists both in NZ and abroad, and he is a 3 time finalist at the NZ Music Awards. Hobnail have just released their 7th album “Blue Sky Songs”, and Rob is also planning a solo album for 2018. No rest in sight then, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here is their take on the Skip James song “I’d Rather Be The Devil”:
