Matt Hay & The Makers

Saturday, 11 November 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Matt Hay and The Makers
7pm Saturday 11 Nov – Matt Hay and the Makers draw influence from the likes of John Hiatt, JJ Cale, and The Band, but deliver their own special blend of blues, country and Americana. A great combo.
Matt Hay & The Makers are:
Matt Hay – Vocals, Guitar and Harmonica
Phil Hope – Mandolin, Guitar and Vocals
Clint Meech – Keys and vocals
George Barris – Bass
Delia Shanly – Drums
Matt was a founding member of Cool Disposition, and has been an occasional sideman with the likes of Darren Watson, Dave Murphy and Marg Layton.  Since Cool Disposition finished up in 2005 Matt has focussed on his own bands, initially the SubUrbans, and now the Makers, with whom he has developed a unique blend of country, blues and Americana.
Matt has released one album (2007’s Inside Stories) and an EP (2012’s Where do we go from here), and is in the early stages of planning for a second album to be released later this year, or early next.
“..loosely in the alt. country/Americana camp and with his lived in voice and everyday stories of beautiful losers coping with life’s ups and downs, Hay draws comparisons with fellow roots rock travelers such as John Hiatt and Willy Mason or even our [New Zealand’s] own Barry Saunders.” – Tony Parker, NZ Musician
