Roomfulla Blues welcomes the Two Bluesy Blonds to the Bristol this Thursday 12 May and the fabulous band – with or without wigs (and actually not really Julie’s), will be Andrew Richardson (Drums), Callum Hazlitt-Black (Bass), Deane Hunter (Guitar), Pieter Bos (Keys), and Andrew Clouston (Saxophone).
Julie and Erna were having lunch. (Rodger was there too – but he’s not blonde). I miss singing blues said Erna. Borrow my band said Julie. You join in too said Erna. We could be Two Bluesy Blondes…
TWO BLUESY BLONDES – Erna Ferry and Julie Lamb. Different blues styles, same hair colour.
Erna Ferry is a paramount jazz and blues singer, and comes with stellar experience in many styles of musical performance.
Erna has performed at all the leading jazz festivals throughout New Zealand, and her career highlights include winning the Wellington Jazz Quest, supporting American vocal star Al Jarreau as well as touring with leading American Jazz and Blues performers.
Erna is a vivacious, fun, sparkling stage personality. She has the ability to grab the crowd and make them hers. Whether she is singing a slow sultry ballad or belting out a swinging blues, you are in no doubt that Erna is giving the song her utmost.
She has 4 albums to her credit – the latest released just this year “Wild About You”
Expect this fabulous singer to deliver some great blues standards – from Hound Dog to Mojo Workin’
During her music career this award-winning, charting musician has written, performed and recorded original music; formed and promoted bands and choirs; and organised and directed multi-band music events. In her down time you’ll find her in the crowd supporting other musicians.
Julie has written and recorded three acclaimed albums the latest of which debuted at number 10 on the New Zealand Music Charts.
Her style glides between rock, funk, blues and back again – Two Bluesy Blondes provides Julie an opportunity to revisit her blues styles, share with you her “commanding, heartfelt vocals” Oh, and it also means she gets to hang out on stage with one of her heroes!
This half of the act takes you to the funky, rocky side of the blues. Expect some Little Feat and Jon Cleary.
