SUMMARY:Blain Fitzpatrick’s Blues Band
DESCRIPTION:If you like your blues\, rocky and heavy\, this is the band for you. \n  \nFor young guys\, they really know how to rock the blues like the legends of the ‘60s and’70s. This is their third gig for Capital Blues and each time they have been a knock-out. \n  \nA quick look at the musicians in the band will tell you that you can expect some top-class playing. Some might even say virtuoso. \n  \nThe band is:- \nVocals – Eugene Wolfin\nGuitar – Matthew Fitzpatrick\nDrums – Jacob Randall\nBass – Blain Fitzpatrick \n  \nThey will be playing some classic blues-rock tunes in their own way. Think of Cream\, early Zeppelin\, and Hendrix. This is going to be a fantastic evening of outstanding music and musicians. Don’t miss it.

SUMMARY:Free Falling – A Celebration of Tom Petty
DESCRIPTION:Free Falling is a sincere\, and authentic recreation of the great Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who sold 80 million albums. There are so many iconic songs by Tom Petty\, that every is going to be singing along with the band. From the first hits in 1977\, Breakdown and American Girl\, to Refugee and Here Comes My Girl from the Damn The Torpedoes album. \n  \nThe members of the band have loads of experience playing in New Zealand and Australia. They have played their own music and also worked in other tribute bands. They have even supported U2 in Wellington. \n  \nGreg White has been playing guitar since he was 12. With his band “The Actors” he supported U2 for their “Under a Blood Red Sky” tour show in the Wellington show buildings in 1984. In Free Falling\, Greg brings “Tom Petty” back to life with his characteristic vocal\, and guitar playing. \n  \nGreg Bates\, after studying at The Wellington Conservatorium of Music in 1997\, has played gigs all over New Zealand and was a full-time musician for two years. His drum style and consistency is renowned and is the anchor for the rhythm section in this tight 4-piece. \n  \nGary Taylor\, (Steely DNA\, Wayne Mason\, and many more) brings a very broad skill set to this band covering several member’s roles. He enjoys playing his part as the “odd-jobs boy” in singing back-up and playing a mix of electric guitar and keys. \n  \nMark Gittings started playing bass guitar in the mid-70s with a few local Wellington pub bands. After the ‘90s playing in Australia\, he returned to Wellington to front the house band at Candy O’s club. \nMark’s unique bass style compliments Greg Bates’ drumming to bring the famous Heartbreakers rhythm section to life. \n  \nMake sure your voice is in good order.

SUMMARY:Jamie and the Numbers
DESCRIPTION:I’ve been hanging out for this band to play having heard their album last year which is fantastic. They were booked twice\, but things got in the way\, so now\, finally\, at last. \n  \nJamie and the Numbers. \n  \nThey are a soul-funk band with some fabulous songs of their own\, and really clever arrangements of rock songs too like The Seeker by The Who (yes\, a soul version of a Who tune). \n  \nThey’ve been getting airplay all around the country\, and even on the BBC. This is a band definitely not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Bullfrog Rata and the Cuba Express
DESCRIPTION:With a change to the previously advertised band\, we are delighted to bring back one of our favourites\, Bullfrog Rata. \nBullfrog Rata’s musical career has been wide and varied. From busking on the streets in towns like Wairoa and Waipukerau\, to flying on jets to play for US billionaires. \n  \nHe has been lucky enough to open for and share the stage with many of his idols including Midge Marsden and The Chills\, and with international blues acts like Taj Mahal\, Watermelon Slim as well as mega stars Tina Turner\, Charlie Pride\, and Jethro Tull. \n  \nBullfrog will be presenting some “Songs of Fate and Misadventure\,” a collection of his own tunes from his fabulous album in 2021\, Chasing the Gazelle\, and songs from his upcoming album\, “Botanical Road.” \n  \nThere will be blues and roots tunes scattered throughout the evening too. \n  \nHe will be accompanied by some of the business jazz musicians in Wellington: \nAbe Baillie on drums \nPatrick Bleakley on bass \nGeoff Culverwell on trumpet. \n  \n“A little jazz\, a little blues\, a single malt\, and a ballad or two.” \nCome and see why he is so popular.
