SUMMARY:Two Bluesy Blondes
DESCRIPTION:Erna Ferry and Julie Lamb in a mash up of blonde hair and bluesy lungs… From trad to not so much… The song list is varied\, and the band is grand! \nStephen Fisher (Manawatu Standard) had this to say in 2016: \n“The women worked together superbly\, bouncing off each other in performance\, each inspiring the other\, revelling in their soulful and down-to-earth blues sound prevalent both on their own and together. \nAll this infectious music-making needs a really great band\, and in this gig we were not left wanting as Andrew Richardson (drums)\, Callum Hazlitt Black (bass)\, Deane Hunter (guitar)\, Pieter Bos (keys) and Andrew Clouston on the saxophone all had great fun. They provided a magnificent supporting sound\, adding to the very essence of this classic music-making with some magnificent solo work across the lineup. … it was impossible to remain still as this high-energy sultry concert took flight\, sending the audience home ‘high’ from the very best of blues.”

SUMMARY:Red Dog Saloon Band
DESCRIPTION:Roomfulla Blues is pleased to welcome the Red Dog Saloon Band back to the Hotel Bristol on the 21st. It’ll be a night of groove\, Delta blues (Dave Murphy – ‘New Zealand’s blues man’) and that eclectic west coast kiwi style of Dougal Spier….the big man with the big sound. On drums Roger Watkins and Elliotte Fuimaono on bass. \nDave Murphy plays in the style of Mississippi John Hurt\, Robert Johnson and a whole host of other old blues guys.  Dougal Speir on the other hand is more adept at ripping off lead riffs unheard of since the death of the likes of Roy Buchanan\, Rory Gallagher or Jimi Hendrix! You can imagine what sort of combination they form together on stage. Interesting\, I hear you say\, definitely\, worth a listen\, most definitely\, but don’t forget entertaining as well. \nSo if you want to hear the greatest mix of country blues you can dance to\, enjoy your listening time\, and maybe even have a bit of a jive\, let the Red Dog Saloon Band fill your needs! \n
