The Chess Tones

For many of us, our love of the blues was cemented by hearing songs from the Chess Records label. Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Wllliamson, Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy… you get the picture. Chess Records is THE foundation of modern blues and rock.

Blues standards like Mojo Working, How Many More Years, Spoonful, Hoochie Coochie Man, Little Red Rooster, and loads more, all came from Chess Records artists.

The massive bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s all started in their parents’ garages or at small bars playing music from these classic acts. The Stones, Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Jethro Tull. They all began their careers playing these tunes.

Yet we rarely hear many of those tunes played, so we are putting that right with a specifically curated band to perform these foundational songs of the music we all love.
