Capital Blues 30th Birthday Weekend – Roots & Resonance

12.00 Louis TM
Louis is a rising gem. He performs at festivals including WOMAdelaide, is a member of Fly My Pretties, and a solo artist in his own right. His album, Shelter for a Broken Soul, was a classic from last year.
For this show, he will be giving us some boogie-woogie piano and New Orleans tunes.

1.30 Dave Murphy and Janet Muggeridge
Dave has been a long-standing performer in the Red Dog Saloon Band. Known for his finger- picking style, Dave lays down a powerful rhythm for Janet’s precise and dynamic mandolin. They will have some original tunes and covers like John Prine, Steve Earle, and Townes Van Zandt.

3.00 Simon Donald
Every time we book Simon, people ask, “When’s he coming back?”
He hit the Wellington audiences when he supported Ash Grunwald at Meow Nui last year.
Simon plays skillful acoustic blues. He has some originals and also his interpretations of some classic blues tunes. He also does some clever reworkings of rock songs, including some Creedence Clearwater Water Revival.
If you want some gravelly-voiced, down-and-dirty acoustic blues, Simon’s your man. He’s a stand-out performer.

4.30 Mat Enright Blues Band
A drum-less blues band! Yep. The sound is so different but compelling.
From small-town Avalon Mississippi, to big-city New Orleans, songs from Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten, John Lee Hooker, and more, from Piedmont, to folk, and straight-up blues, the no-drum quartet will bring you some absolute gems of the genres, played by artists dedicated to authentic representations of the forms
Fabulous, authentic southern blues from Mike Duffy on bass, Nick Granville on guitar, Neil Billington on harmonica, with Mat Enright on guitar and vocals.

Tickets are only $20 for the session. Free for Capital Blues Inc members.
