Opening Night at Jack Hackett’s – Gospel According to the Blues!
Thursday, 22 November 2018 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Launching our new venue at Jack Hackett’s Irish Pub at the crossroads of Dixon and Taranaki streets, Roomfulla Blues invites you to feel some authentic rocking blues gospel with The Gospel According to the Blues this Thursday 22 November.
To celebrate we’ll be giving away loads of freebies, food and beverage vouchers, T-Shirts, Caps and Jackets!
The Gospel According to the Blues is a truly unique experience. Nothing churchy here. Just plenty of field holla cries for deliverance from hell on earth. The gift those slaves gave us lives on in dark redemptive grooves and a boogie woogie left hand in a rich vein of golden grooves from New Orleans Bo-Diddly, Chicago funk, to Memphis Rock. The Gospel According to the Blues will be covering timeless classics through to contemporary interpretations of music from the likes of The Staple Singers, Mavis Staples, Aaron Neville, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley.
The seven piece band is made up of fine Wellington musicians and singers featuring stunning harmonies from ‘The Tempests‘, and solo performances from Pip Payne, Jade Eru and Lynley Chrisstoffeson.
Full Lineup:
Richard Te One – drums
Miklin Halstead – bass
Chris Amour – electric gat
Wayne Mason – keys
Vocals: the Tempests are Lynley Christoffersen and Jade Eru
Pip Payne – Vocals
Blues to gospel to blues – May the circle be unbroken!
