To remind you that we are here – a weekly YouTube playlist of NZ blues gigs –
Oh, and a small as itty bitty gig guide….
While there is no doubt you can do this all by yourself – it’s fun!
Each playlist is about an hour* long.
*(Which is about how long it takes to find the online gigs!)
This week: I went on a wee journey and came with … !
I was talking to Den Cameron from Recorded Music NZ today, and he said there is a bunch of creativity going on out there in NZ right now. Good-o I thought – let’s go find some lockdown stuff… we-ell that was crickets for blues, but maybe I haven’t got the right vernacular. (The who, what now?) What I found were some lovely, funny, talented, clever collaborations – so there’s a wee stray away from blues in here…
Because we’re coming OUT of lockdown soon, (maybe, please) I got onto “hope” – which led me to a favourite, Hopetoun Brown. I went overboard on these – because awesome… and excuse the indulgence… Hope also led me to Sonny Day, which led to other 80’s blues legends. And the-en – bringing it on home to the club – just to remind you it’s here and we might see it again sometime…
